Copenhagen Jazz Festival / Herräng pre-party!!

Come help us build a new tradition! For more than 30 years in the beginning of July, a huge Jazz Festival is being held in Copenhagen, Denmark. This is an invitation to all swingdancers (Lindy Hop, Balboa, Charleston etc on all levels)  to spend some holiday quality time in our country. Or if you are going to Herrang for week 2 or 3, why not make a stop in Copenhagen on the way? The Festival runs from july 2. – 11. and jazz musicians from all over the world is guesting the city, which means 800+ concerts to choose from both in- and outdoor for 10 days! (mix of traditional and modern jazz)

Here is how easy and cheap it is: We will do our best to find hosting for foreign dancers, a lot of the concerts are for free or discounted for dancers, and the Copenhagen crowd can’t wait to show you the best places in their beautiful hometown. And there is no participation fee !!  Be warned: It will be days filled with dancing, socializing, picnics, ice-creams and coooold beer in the sun.

Please note that this project is an experiment that we run for the first time, and if it goes well, we will refine and run this event in the years to come. Take a look at the picture above, the audience are SITTING DOWN while listening to highly dance tempting music, that is just soooo wierd!!!  So COME by and help us add the dancing. You might later be proud to be able to say that you were here for Year 1! It works this way: We will carefully choose 1 big dancefriendly event for each day where we can all meet up – and the rest of the rich music program, we will “deal with” on the run, letting the dance crowd decide and explore on their own in big or small groups.

Note about hosting

We’d like to help you keep your travelling expenses to a minimum by coordinating hosting arrangements between dancers coming from abroad and Danish dancers. So if you want to host/need hosting write Emma at esg@tdc.dk. Please write how many you are and your arriving & departure dates in the mail. Emma will then try to match you with a Danish host and get back to you as soon as possible.
